2015 Data Report

This report was generated by our Data Review Committee. It presents suicide-related data from recent years, including 2015. This report was released in January 2017. This information includes the numbers and rates of suicide deaths in each county and the days of the week and months of the year when suicides took place.


ASIST Evaluation Presentation 2013-16

Thirty-seven ASIST sessions were offered from January 14, 2013 through December 03, 2016, attended by 670 individuals. Workshops were offered in a variety of settings and attended primarily by individuals from Tulare and Kings counties. This report explores the outcomes of these efforts.


Hope Vol. 1 Comic Book

This comic book was locally written & illustrated. It focuses on a youth who is suicidal and the recognition and response by his friends and family. Approximately 40,000 printed copies of this comic book have been distributed in Tulare and Kings counties, as well as shared with partners across the globe! Our comic book is now available for free digital download. You are welcome to share your download with others to help spread our message of hope.


Hope Vol. 2 Comic Book

Hope Vol. 2, our newest comic book, focuses on building strong mental health by addressing the many shapes and forms bullying can take. We can make a big difference in empowering youth, parents, and educators to take positive steps and increase their ability to protect at-risk youth by building a positive environment.


Community Impact Report

This report presents a concise overview of the activities and programs of the Tulare and Kings Counties Suicide Prevention Task Force to 2015. This document is intended to convey basic information about our services, activities, and programs. More detailed information can be found in our evaluation reports as made available in the Publications section of www.sptf.org.

This is a collection of links to external sources such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the American Association of Suicidology, the Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and others.


Summary Evaluation Report 2011-14

 

This report presents an overview of the activities and programs of the Tulare and Kings Counties Suicide Prevention Task Force from July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2014. The first sections review the SPTF’s mission, vision, goals, function, composition, history, and data on suicides in Kings and Tulare counties as well as two neighboring counties. Next, the area covers the many outreach activities of the Task Force and the training it has offered. Finally, all of the programs that have been funded by the Task Force are reviewed.


ASIST Evaluation Report 2013-14

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a 2-day gatekeeper training on preventing suicide. Twenty-one ASIST training sessions were offered from January 14, 2013, through March 10, 2014, attended by 421 individuals. This report is an evaluation of the outcomes of these efforts.


DRAW Evaluation Report 2013-14

DRAW is a program aimed at reducing the amount of depression and suicide risk in students age 18 and older in Kings and Tulare Counties. Participating educational institutions include the College of the Sequoias (in Hanford, Tulare, and Visalia), Fresno Pacific University, the Milan Institute, Porterville College, San Joaquin Valley College (in Hanford and Visalia), and the West Hills College campus in Lemoore. This report is an evaluation of the outcomes of these efforts.


MHFA Evaluation Report

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a workshop that introduces participants to some of the most prevalent mental illnesses and teaches them how to help people developing a mental illness or crisis by connecting them with a trained mental health professional and encouraging self-help and other support strategies. From February 6, 2013, through June 16, 2014, there were 13 training sessions sponsored by the SPTF. This report is an evaluation of the outcomes of these efforts.


RESTATE Evaluation Report

The Reduction and Elimination of Stigma Through Art-Targeted Education (RESTATE) Program is a stigma- and discrimination-reduction program, implemented by the Tulare County Office of Education in both Kings and Tulare Counties starting in January 2013. Over 1,000 students at 13 sites participated in the program over the course of three semesters. This report is an evaluation of the outcomes of these efforts.


SOS Evaluation Report 2013-14

The SOS Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program (SOS) is an award-winning, nationally recognized program for middle and high school students. The program teaches students how to identify the symptoms of depression and suicidality in themselves and their friends, and encourages help-seeking through the use of the ACT® model (Acknowledge, Care, Tell). The program can be completed in one class period (less than an hour). This report is an evaluation of the outcomes of these efforts.


Student Mental Health Needs Assessment 2014

This was a comprehensive needs assessment that explored the strengths, needs, service gaps, and priorities of student mental health in Tulare and Kings counties.

Seeds of Hope is a custom publication that highlights the work of our task force, some of the programs and local priority populations, and provides information on recognizing and responding to risk, as well as listing some of the resources for support.
